Motivated and driven individual with strong quantitative skills to lead various initiatives to support the development and improvement of wind products, with the clear objective of increasing the company’s competitiveness and margins in this market. The Wind Product Manager is responsible for Wind LCOE Optimization efforts and overall roadmap recommendations, while also being actively engaged in various innovation efforts and programs, market evaluation, technology evaluation & qualification, and supplier relationship management. This individual will work closely with the Director of Wind Technology Optimization and other Product Managers, but also with the entire Wind Technology Strategy Team and many other internal stakeholders interacting in the development/ implementation/ operation of onshore wind projects. Interactions with external parties, such as OEMs and consultants, will also be required. One of the critical areas of focus is to research the market intelligence and technology roadmaps, with the objective to be a key contributor in setting well defined and thought out targets, hencepaving the way to successful wind projects in the near to mid-term horizon. 

Responsibilities:
  • Develop/recommend/maintain a wind roadmap for the short/medium term forecasting the position EDF Renewable Energy should take in bidding projects under development to be competitive, while simultaneously  realistic;
  • Research, and integrate in the roadmap, 3rd party LCOE future trends for Wind, differentiated by geographic region throughout North America;
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to research, analyze and efficiently track market intelligence with the intent of identifying the price to win for onshore wind projects in different areas of North America;
  • Develop product documentation and presentations defining and justifying the vision, roadmaps and LCOE targets;
  • Lead the LCOE reduction effort by working collaboratively with project teams and subject matter experts in the ideation and evaluation of innovative ideas enabling the LCOE reduction needed to meet our targets, considering optimal tradeoffs between cost, value and risk;
  • Support the identification and the development of market opportunities where wind will be most competitive against other types of energy source projects, via analyses and tool development;
  • Participate in defining and subsequently implementing innovation related topics that should be investigated by the group in coordination with the Innovations Group at EDFR, to ensure wind’s competitiveness in the near to longer term;
  • Take the ownership of some wind programs and lead them through all the development and approval process (toll gates). Such programs can cover a wide range of topics: optimal life effort via digital twin, evaluation of optimal storage pairing between wind and other technologies, wind vs solar competitiveness tool, repowering strategy, SCADA/software development, etc.;
  • Track Onshore Wind technologies and suppliers to understand the performance and commercial readiness of products and the current and future price curves of all technologies;
  • Work collaboratively with EDF Renewable Energy’s internal stakeholders, including but not limited to development, origination, program management, construction, valuation & transaction, asset optimization, risk management, a corporate finance, and legal departments and the EDF EN team, in performing the technical, financial and commercial evaluation of Onshore Wind technologies, taking into account performance, reliability, efficiency, long-term cost to operate, manufacturability, and cost with an emphasis on identifying Wind solutions that drive LCOEs toward grid parity and provide EDF Renewable Energy with competitive advantages;

Qualifications:

Education/Experience –

  • Engineering, science or mathematician degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the wind power industry being involved in diverse aspects of the projects or product management.
  • Strong experience in analytics
  • Experience interacting with wind-related suppliers, service providers, and customers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.

  • Autonomous
  • Proactive in identifying problems to tackle and solve.
  • Able to identify ways to add value to the team, sometimes without specific direction or guidance
  • Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, and third parties; able to build bridges between diverse teams.
  • Able to handle multiple concurrent projects and track progress and needs of each project and provide accurate and timely updates.

Physical Requirements: (describe any physical demands of the job such as lifting, climbing, standing, stooping, etc.)

Working Conditions:

85% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), with the remaining 15% of the time spent travelling to visit suppliers, project sites, end-user customers and to attend conferences.
