As our Houston headquarters-based Human Resources Manager for the U.S. group, your mission will be to lead our team of local human resource professionals while personally managing our employee relations and compliance for our U.S. group.  Your in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations, worker’s compensation case management, and comparing policy administration, paired with a PHR or SPHR certification, will give you the foundation needed to hit the ground running. Prior experience providing tactful and meaningful insight on employee relation issues and related management coaching for both plant and corporate teams will be key as we strive to improve the performance and communication of all our team members.  A proven track record of managing HR projects such as open enrollment, performance management, and benefits cost analysis, with superior communication and legal documentation, will be vital in this role.  As a roll-up-your-sleeves professional who can slide seamlessly from strategic planning sessions to mentoring your HR team members, you will be an invaluable member of our team. Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Office suite and Human Resources Information Systems is required.  Join Bray today to make an immediate and tangible impact on a growing HR team!

Principal Job Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with key leaders to understand business issues and opportunities and assist the Recruitment and Development team in developing strategic HR initiatives as a response to address those opportunities, this may include training, coaching, mentoring initiatives.
  • Assists the Development team and business partners in improving organizational effectiveness by analyzing department structures and evaluating options, studying resources and ensuring optimal utilization, assessing employee climate, morale and effectiveness and developing action steps to improve the aforementioned.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, representing organization at hearings, interprets Company policy for managers and employees.
  • Provides overall organizational leadership for the U.S human resource functions. Develops policies, programs and processes that enhance the Human Resource / Employee Relations function. Ensures adherence to policy.
  • Provides overall leadership in the recruitment process and training and development.
  • Oversees the compensation program, which includes developing job descriptions, performing job analysis, analyzing salary surveys to monitor internal equity and market competitiveness and facilitates the performance evaluation program. Guides managers through the Salary Planning process.
  • Ensures the integrity of the data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and facilitates the use of the system by ensuring that users are trained, and that information can be retrieved and manipulated efficiently. Ensures Payroll functions are properly aligned to business goals and practices. Provides monthly performance metrics.
  • Trains, monitors and coaches U.S HR team members to improve skill level, to ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards and to improve safety, quality and process reliability in a cost-effective manner. Facilitates communications, problem resolution and provides appropriate feedback, both positive and corrective within team.
  • Provides guidance on the Performance Review Process and Talent Development Process.
  • Recommends and organizes programs that encourage employee involvement and increase employee enthusiasm, morale and retention of quality employees.
  • Responsible for the Benefits Administration and programs for the organization including Wellness initiatives and actions for the organization.
  • Provides input and support of company-wide communications.
  • Works closely with HSE to support any initiatives and policies required and handles some workers compensation administration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management or a related field. 
  • 10+ years of professional experience applying fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in Human Resources.
  • Must have a minimum of 6-8 years in an HR management/leadership role with direct reports.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Previous experience in multiple state employment laws is a plus.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Solid organization and project planning skills.
  • PC skills including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database.
  • HRIS (Human Resources Information System) experience or working knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, as well as external suppliers and organizations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in an environment with large volumes of data and paperwork.  
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong employee relations and business partner experience.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership/mentor skills to help develop a high performing team.
  • Ability to travel up 15% of time is required.
