*Serve as assistant controller of AFA, American Fidelity International Bermuda Limited (AFIBL) and  APL . Consult on issues for the consolidated group of insurance companies.

*Responsible for the management and direction of AFA’s Financial Management Services division, APL's Accounting and Financial department , which entails all general ledger transactions, cash management, cash receipts and disbursements, variable and bonus/commissions compensation payments to Colleagues, sales Colleagues and brokers, investment and fund accounting, budgeting and forecasting and all levels of financial reporting (including SAP and GAAP audits) for AFA  its divisions and its products. Work on information to be supplied to the rating agencies, insurance departments and industry trade associations. Serve as a liaison with external auditors and financial consultants.

Bachelor’s Degree From Four-Year College or University Accounting area of study required

15 years insurance industry related accounting/financial or consulting experience with at least 10 - 12 years experience in supervisory positions

Strong oral and written communication skills including outstanding interpersonal and consultative skills

Ability to work in pressure situations; some time periods of extensive overtime

Flexibility in scheduling workload and ability to manage toward successful accomplishment of goals within deadlines

Strong oral and written communication skills including outstanding interpersonal and consultative skills

Experience in presentations of financial information to small or large audiences in a classroom or a general setting

Demonstration of a high level of administrative competence and excellence in analyzing organization procedures and maximum efficiency

Excellent knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting principles

Strong management, leadership and decision-making skills 

Experience in project management and cross-functional advisory skills

Strong analytical skills required

Experience in public accounting and successful completion of all or some LOMA exams would be considered a plus, but not required

Must be able to effectively manage medium to large staff of both technical and clerical positions

Advisory expertise and skill in financial and non-financial situations

Strong experience in strategic and operational planning

CPA required
