Job Description

The Leader – Group, Prototype Planning is responsible leading developing prototype planners to ensure on-time delivery of prototypes for the Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.   S/he will be held countable for providing prototype costs, estimated component timing, and identify any prototype component that deviate from the prototype plan.  This position will establish a recovery plan, follow up on overdue orders and set up weekly prototype delivery plan.  The  Leader – Group, Prototype Planning  will ensure all information is collected and the plan developed is achievable.  This person must be an excellent negotiator and have strong communication as well as management skills This person must be able to manage change as issues arise and adapt the prototype plan as needed.    The Lead Planner must provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with Schaeffler policies and procedures as well as assist employees in setting goals. This position must lead employees by creating training and development plans, coaching employees, and providing feedback in regards to employee performance, quality, and safety. The Lead Planner will be required to mentor and empower their employees to foster a team environment and have strong conflict management skills, be able to maintain employee work schedules, manage multiple projects at once, and have ability to make quick effective decisions.  Due to the fact that this individual will interface frequently with both local and international Schaeffler associates, as well as with external customers; excellent communication skills are critical.  Travel may be required for this position.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, have close visual acuity and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools.   The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, push, pull, kneel, or crouch.   The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.   This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Job Requirements


Technical:
       -  Product knowledge -  SAP & Microsoft Office - Complete understanding of manufacturing processes and   equipment used for making protoype components/parts as well as the product function - Ability to lead effectively through systems using strong problem solving skills and time management - Understand the Schaeffler quality policy and how it applies to prototype - Understand LuK specific software packages - Familiar with riveting and assembly procedures - Familiar with Production Processes - Zontec

  -  Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results -  Continuous improvement approach -  Assertive approach to solving problems -  Ability to prioritize and make decisions  - Strong listening and mentoring skills are key to engaging and motivating team members.   - Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication to manage multiple projects and inform the organization of progress.   - Strong leadership skills are necessary for translating business strategies into actionable objectives. - Decision making skills will require the ability to do what is  right with respect to business goals and Schaeffler policies.  - Courage to make difficult decisions and be accountable for those decisions made.  
Educational:
    - Technical degree and experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 8 years experience.
