General Description

The Human Resources Business Partner will serve as a strategic business partner to department heads and senior management throughout the organization to align Human Resources practices with business initiatives.  This position will provide leaders with HR support in the areas of organizational structure, change management, employee relations, performance management and talent acquisition. The ideal candidate will transition seamlessly between high-level strategizing and hands-on HR functional work.  This position offers the opportunity to have a significant impact across the business through innovative approaches to challenges, creating and enhancing processes and programs and sharing experiential insights across the HR team.

This position will be responsible for supporting highly dynamic teams across Sales, Product Management and Investment and Client Operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with the business leaders within assigned business units.

  • Partner with business unit leaders to assess strategic people needs and establish department people priorities.

  • Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of the business and the marketplace in order to better support the assigned business unit and provide insight into ways to improve the business. 

  • Coach and advise business leaders in the leadership and management of their teams.

  • Communicate and promote HR initiatives to assigned business units to ensure that these initiatives are being utilized consistently and effectively throughout the firm.

  • Assist and provide guidance to line management on Human Resources related issues or policy interpretation.

  • Meet regularly with business unit leaders and managers within assigned groups.

  • Leverage and influence evolution of organizational change and culture.

  • Contribute to the creation and execution of the overall HR strategy.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of people strategies as necessary to deal with retention, motivation and/or attraction challenges in partnership with COEs and HR leadership.

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Provide HR counsel and problem-resolution support in dealing with performance management, employee relations issues, and organizational changes.

  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop and refine innovative solutions, programs and policies.

  • Provide consistent and fair application of policies and procedures throughout the company.

  • Work with assigned business unit leadership and HR team members to manage voluntary and involuntary employee separations.

  • In conjunction with Learning and Development, participate in evaluation and monitoring of

  • training programs to ensure success.

  • Proactively share knowledge across the HR team and be a mentor to team members to drive continuous development and enhance personal and team capabilities.      

  • Partner with business unit leaders during the performance evaluation, compensation review and other HR initiative processes.

  • Work on special projects and initiatives as they arise.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Human Resources Business Partner strongly preferred, with a minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience.

  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.

  • Prior experience in financial services preferred.

  • Experience working within a parent-company or matrix environment a plus.

  • Must understand the clients’ business and its objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive company practices to create healthy and effective organizations.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior and executive leaders.

  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrated understanding of business requirements, industry trends and human resource-related practices.

  • Ability to create, enhance and implement innovative Human Resources practices and programs.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to gather unrefined business requirements from multiple sources and formulate and deliver a solution in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast paced environment where there may be ambiguity.
