Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a renowned Boston-based investment company to identify an Accounting Manager/Controller.

Highlights of the Accounting Manager/Controller Opportunity:

  • The Company: Renowned Investment Firm specializing in buyouts, strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, organic growth, and licensing arrangements.
  • The Role: Reporting to the President/COO, the Accounting Manager/Controller will not only own the company's accounting, analysis, risk compliance and reporting functions but also can participate in market research, acquisitions and dispositions. This role will have 'hands-on' responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day accounting including consolidating the financials; preparing the monthly financial package; analyzing costs & budgets; & financial planning.
  • The Opportunity: This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a role that offers complexity, credibility, and visibility. Not only does this role report to the President/COO, but also works closely with the CEO. They are seeking a driven individual who looks for ways to streamline processes. The more that's streamlined the more opportunity there is to focus on work outside of the day-to-day.
  • Career Development: My client believes in career development and promotes continuing education (offering financial assistance). They look to promote from within and have a proven track record of taking employees from the ground level and promoting them into executive positions.

The Accounting Manager/Controller's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Maintain and balance an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
  • Develop reports to analyze information and options.
  • Prepare general ledger entries and reconcile accounts.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommend changes.
  • Risk management including annual insurance renewals.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • CPA and/or prior public accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • 4+ years of hands-on day-to-day accounting experience. Must have owned the General Ledger close process and have direct experience with financial statement preparation. -
  • Experience with consolidations and intercompany transactions required.
  • Experience in Insurance Renewal Process preferred but NOT required.
  • Other Risk Management activities a 'plus' - Environmental / Legal Claims
