The Test Engineer II tests Java and Oracle applications in a Federal Government infrastructure for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This position works with Software Developers and Business Users to develop and execute manual and automated test scripts. Additional duties include supporting various helpdesks by investigating issues and responding accordingly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a comprehensive package of test data for use in evaluating changes to applications. The test data must be able to accurately reflect all possible conditions and predict expected results.
Writes test cases and executes them with a focus on testing complex business rules to ensure they are working as desired. Performs regression testing to verify existing functionality is not broken.
Performs testing tasks to support maintenance, enhancements, and deployment of Oracle and Java based applications.
Offers innovative technical solutions to evolving customer requirements.
Adheres to all processes and procedures including change management. Ensures all required documentation is produced and delivered.
Plans and performs test assignments involving definition of test and verification requirements, plans and sequences relative to complex software and hardware subsystems and resolves identified conflicting issues.
Establishes methods and techniques, plans tests, develops test requirements, writes test procedures and reports, and conducts tests utilizing comprehensive knowledge of complex subsystems.
Participates in test readiness reviews and design reviews, and conducts audits of test programs.
Responsible for supporting helpdesks by investigating and researching data and system related inquires and responding to them in timely manner.
Utilizes a broad knowledge of precedents in test engineering and applies understanding of principles of related engineering and automation technology to ensure test validity and integrity.
Provides functional guidance to less experienced test engineers.
Prepares and conducts highly advanced acceptance test plans and confirms accompanying results, including the development and interpretation of data sampling plans.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Experience with test automation tools such as HP UFT, Selenium, and JMeter desired, but not required. Experience with Agile Scrum framework. Experience writing SQL queries.
Experience and understanding of XML.
