Schedule (FT/PT): Regular Full Time
Travel Required: As Needed
Clearance: Ability to obtain USBR access badge for Grand Coulee Dam project site.

North Wind Federal Services, LLC is an Alaska Native owned Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) specializing in infrastructure support services and facilities maintenance, base operating services, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, environmental services, janitorial services and professional, administrative, and management services.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides support to the Grand Coulee Office Manager and general guidance to janitorial staff regarding custodial duties. Serves as a backup to the Office Manager in their absence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides general guidance and direction to janitors, monitors work in progress and reviews completed work. Work with janitors to mitigate unsafe conditions or notify the Office Manager.

Perform maintenance on all types of floors, tile, terrazzo wood and carpeting.
Dry and wet mop, strip, scrub, wax, polish all types of flooring.
Vacuum assigned area, spot extract machine and scrubber.
Perform minor repairs on machinery, equipment, and tools
Empty trash and recycling bins
Clean and maintain restrooms
Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Perform general cleaning of inside and outside windows, doors, walls, tables chairs, escalators, and elevators.
Clean, Remove and replace doormats
Check and clean parking lots, stairwells, sweep and steam pavers and surrounding areas.
Operate scrubbers, steam cleaner, vacuum cleaner, forklift, and electric carts when required.
Launder all towels, mop heads and dustmops and deliver clean ones where needed
Assist the Office manger in training new and existing employees
Escort unbadged employees as necessary.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of: Floor maintenance; appropriate use of chemicals, solvents, tools, and equipment; verbal communications, providing guidance and direction to others, principles, and practices of supervision.

Ability to: Operate/maintain various motorized equipment, strip, seal, scrub, and polish floors; follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures; Walk up and down stairs, walk and stand for extended periods of time; deal diplomatically with the public, supervisors and fellow employees. Lift and empty full trash cans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High School education.
2 years experience with janitorial procedures, materials, and equipment, including working safely around a variety of cleaning chemicals.

Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of floor maintenance; appropriate use of chemicals, solvents, tools, and equipment.
Ability to operate/maintain various motorized equipment, strip, seal, scrub, and polish floors; follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Experience providing guidance and direction to others
Well-organized with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with other employees and client representatives.

Special Requirements:

Ability to obtain a Site Badge and meet site security requirements.
Ability to work overtime as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience supporting the Grand Coulee Dam janitorial contract.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Walking on uneven terrain; lifting 25-40 lbs.; bending, kneeling; wearing personal protective equipment including gloves, booties, full body Tyvek coveralls.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoors and outdoors, exposure to powered and moving parts/equipment; noise level requiring hearing protection. Exposure to cleaning solvents; areas requiring eye protection, areas requiring additional personal protective equipment. Elevated work requiring fall protection training.
