Human Resources Manager

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for oversight and implementation of human resource functions for all employee groups (salaried, salaried non-exempt, and hourly). Serves as a consultant to management on all employee relations issues; acts as an employee champion and change agent.  The HR Manager formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. Drives the organization development process, serves as an employee advocate, manages employee relations and communications, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • 20-30%    Ensure consistent application of all corporate and plant policies and practices.  Communicate HR programs and policies to plant staff and address all related questions.  Conduct investigations of potential violations of company policies. Lead the process of capturing desired changes in plant policies or practices.

  • 15-25%    Contribute to the business objectives by helping business leaders identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures and processes. Act as a liaison between the operations and HR to ensure HR services are aligned with the needs of the business and identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.

  • 10-20%    Provide expert advice and coaching where appropriate.  Ensure that strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization. Identify and resolve employee issues through regular contact with all employees. Champion the Union Avoidance Plan for the facility.

  • 10-20%    Assist the business leader to provide employees with development opportunities and ensure current and future performance standards are met. Champion the Talent Management Process and ensure timely, accurate and fair assessments of employee performance are conducted per the corporate guidelines. Support managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the business objectives.

  • 15-20%    Oversee recruitment, orientation, training, transfers, job postings, and terminations for all positions and in compliance with OFCCP regulations. Oversee the unemployment claims process. Partner with compensation to review positions and determine the need for job description and/or salary grade changes.

  • 15-25%    Administer the local Workers' Compensation program and maintain relationship with company panel health care providers.  Manage Environmental, Health and Safety facility reporting per corporate requirements and participate in the plants EH&S management system.  Create the EHS Training plan for the facility based on regulatory requirements and identified needs.

  • 10-20%     Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR plan and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.  Participate in corporate HR project teams and programs and coordinate community involvement.

  • 5-10%  Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 5+ years demonstrated HR/employee relations experience and OSHA knowledge

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources 

  • SPHR or PHR certification or SHRM equivalence

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

Technical knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced):

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiar with standard HR concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Advanced knowledge of employment law

  • Demonstrated exposure to OSHA reporting, regulations and compliance    

General knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced):

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills

  • Intermediate presentation skills

  • Knowledge of training delivery and development

  • Advanced interpersonal skills

  • Advanced conflict resolution skills

  • Advanced organizational skills
