Cybersecurity Engineer

SilverEdge Government Solutions Reston, VA (Onsite) Full-Time

We are looking for an energetic and ambitious individual with a go-getter attitude, who likes working in a fast-paced and always evolving environment. This position supports Enterprise IT Operations within a dynamic organization that enables the Department of Defense to counter improvised-threats with tactical responsiveness through rapid solution development and delivery. The program supports the Combatant Commands' efforts to prepare for and adapt to battlefield surprise in support of counter-terrorism, counter-insurgencies, and other related mission areas, including countering improvised explosive devices.

  • Conduct assessment & security testing activities for all new and existing applications, devices, and systems to determine the extent to which security controls are implemented correctly, operating as intended, and meet the security requirements for approval and acceptance across multiple networks
  • Utilize various tools to assess the implemented security controls (Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Requirements Guides (SRGs), SCAP Benchmarks, Vendor Documentation).
  • Perform vulnerability scans on new and existing IT assets across multiple networks and enclaves using ACAS, in order to maintain compliance requirements.
  • Secure and remediate systems (workstations & servers) to meet government regulations for assets within multiple testing environments.
  • Utilize Remedy for tracking of assessment and testing activities.
  • Create reports and recommendations for the Assessment & Authorization Team.
  • Work closely with other Cyber and Engineering teams to maintain network compliance and authorization.
  • Author and update technical and procedural documentation.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years Military/Professional experience
  • ACAS (Administration and Usage)
  • Security Testing & Assessment/Vulnerability Management
  • Experience with DoD IT Security Requirements, Frameworks, and Tools (RMF, STIGs, SRGs, SCAP)
  • Navigation within Windows and Linux platforms including Windows 10, Server 2012, 2012R2, 2016, 2019, RHEL 7 and above;
  • Technical Writing
  • 8570 Compliant Certification (i.e. Security+, CASP, CISSP, CEH)
  • Technical Certification (ACAS, Microsoft, Linux, AWS, etc...)
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with and/or knowledge of PowerShell, Active Directory, VMware, BMC Remedy, YUM, HBSS, Splunk, Microsoft SCCM/WSUS, Server Administration, Agile Methodology
  • Experience with developing strategies and roadmaps, including Cloud, and analytics
  • Experience with BI tools and data visualization techniques
  • Experience with project tracking and management tools like Jira, Microsoft Project, systems engineering, software engineering
  • Experience working on projects with multiple integrated systems
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices
  • Possession of excellent presentation, critical thinking, and analytics skills
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Agile, SCRUM, or PM Certification
