Pediatric Ophthalmology - Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Ophthalmology
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented pediatric ophthalmologist to join our Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye, all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
The competitive position entails clinical activity, both clinical and didactic teaching, and likely participation in clinical research at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and 3-4 satellite clinics. The division is a very active site for basic science, database, pharmaceutical, and many local and multicenter clinical studies such as PEDIG (Pediatric Eye Disease Investigation Group). The candidate will be able to participate in all the NIH funded PEDIG studies and more. The division supports up to 2 pediatric ophthalmology fellows.
The department supports an 18 resident Ophthalmology residency training program (6 per year), as well as fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina. A robust and active clinical trials team (Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports investigator-initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate sponsored studies. Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center.
The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into the decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, foster a high level of patient satisfaction, and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in teaching. The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology and possess/maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
