Responsible for working with the Buyer to develop, execute, and communicate strategic merchandise plans to support the financial objectives of the Brand. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving annual merchandise plans across categories with the main objective of ensuring that sales, margin, turn, ROI, and other financial goals are met by working closely with the Buying, Marketing, Finance, and Vendor teams.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform pre-season planning and in-season forecasting at the department/subclass level. Provide analysis and forecasting that support seasonal buying strategies and decisions. Review actual sales performance and re-project in-season sales and inventories based on trend
Accurately complete Open-to-Buy on a weekly basis. Input all relevant information that impacts current and future open-to-buy, including sales, margin, and inventory levels. Ensure that any planned action is accounted for in the Open-to-Buy as soon as it is finalized
Analyze sales by sku, subclass, and vendor to project merchandise order needs. Utilize the corporate flow sheets to project future merchandise demand for the Buyer and the vendor at the sku level
Allocate DC Inventory to maintain corporate store in-stock level goals. Continuously monitor store and DC inventory levels and recommend model adjustments as necessary. Maintain store models during peak selling periods to ensure sales and turnover are maximized. Perform stock balancing after peak selling periods to maximize inventory productivity
Determine when an inventory situation requires a corrective measure such as stock balancing, RTV, price change, or other steps. Propose and implement correction measures, and follow through to ensure accurate completions

Excellent analytical skills
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Access with ability to quickly learn other software (Arthur, E3, Business Objects, etc.)
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or related area
Minimum of 3 years of merchandise or retail experience preferred
Non-degree candidates considered if the candidate has extensive background as a Buyer’s Assistant or in retail merchandising
