Position Location:

Scottsdale, AZ preferred with remote work capabilities

Position Summary:

The Digital Technical Architect is responsible for the architecture and solution design of NMG’s suite of digital marketing solutions including its web platform (powers over 2,000 websites), automated digital advertising platform and sales enablement tools. NMG is looking to move to a headless, microservice-based architecture to power the full digital platform as we aggressively expand the depth and breadth of our digital offerings. 

The Digital Technical Architect will lead the evaluation of the current platform and develop the roadmap and corresponding plans to move to the headless architecture (Platform 2.0). He/she will lead complex migration and integration projects, overseeing a team of developers. He/she also serve as a subject matter expert and trusted technical advisor to the NMG Executive and Leadership team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate current state of NMG’s entire digital platform and offerings and  work in conjunction with SVP of Omni-Channel Technology to define the architecture of Platform 2.0
  • Design and architect scalable and distributed solutions using cloud, headless, microservices and other emerging technologies
  • Influence the successful implementation of these designs and architectures by managing expectations and risks and balancing tactical and strategic approach
  • Work with the business to understand and solve complex problems by presenting various solution options and technical concepts in a comprehensible manner.
  •  Collaborate with the delivery teams to provide direction and design in an Agile environment.
  • Create reliable solution plans that include cost estimates and optimized delivery approaches by working with the business and technology teams, enforcing governance and compliance activities for the solution
  • Identify new disruptive technologies to provide business value 
  • Future management of 4-8 Developers


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 8+ years in application design and development
  • 4+ years working on e-commerce and/or enterprise content management solutions
  • Ability to travel as needed

Job Competencies:

  • Strong demonstrable experience leading architecture development for enterprise scale systems
  • Experience working in an Agile environment across multiple scrum teams
  • Deep knowledge and experience in REST API, Micro-services, Java, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience working with both RDBMS and NoSQL databases
  • Deep understanding of Application, Infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like Performance, Scalability, Reliability and Availability
  • Strong spirit of collaboration and succeeding with and through others
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Self-starter, autonomous worker
  • Experience architecting and implementing a headless solution a plus
