Pump Mechanic

Responsibilities of the Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • Repair/fabricate a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and reciprocating pumps, gear reducers and related rotating equipment
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect and repair a variety of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps (both single and multi-stage), gear pumps, reciprocating pumps and metering pumps, gear reducers, blowers (both vacuum and pressure), mechanical seals, and many other types of equipment
  • Install equipment using manufacturer specifications ensuring proper alignment balance and tolerances
  • Read and understand an IOM and BOM
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to all safety procedures and regulations

Qualifications of the Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • Good mechanical aptitude required
  • Experience working with rotating equipment a plus
  • Applicant must be customer driven with an acceptable driving record
  • Be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and physical
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Must have positive "can-do" attitude
  • Have the ability or learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings, and service manuals and posses ability to work with basic math
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow safety procedures and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a self-directed manner with no immediate supervision

Physical Demand:  Must be able to lift 50 lbs multiple times daily unassisted, 75 lbs assisted, and push or pull 100 lbs assisted; must be able to stand/walk for extended periods

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work inside and outside as required; may be exposed to elements and outdoor temperatures 

Training/Certifications: Professional Skilled Training is a plusShift Time/Overtime: Typical work is 7:30-4:30 and overtime can be required but is limited

Travel: Occasional overnight travel is required but very limited

Education: Although not required, vocational education, industrial or mechanical education is a plus
