Department Overview

Advisory Operations is responsible for providing operational and portfolio support to more than 1.7 million Advisory accounts across Brokerage and Trust platforms. Support consists of establishment of new accounts, maintenance to existing accounts, processing Investment Policy Statements, trade facilitation for certain products and other inquiries associated with advisory accounts. In addition, Portfolio implementation ensures the client portfolios are positioned in accordance with the Portfolio Manager's investment strategies and views. The team provides oversight and trading support for the firms external model providers, internally managed advisory investment strategies and Personalized Unified Managed allocations portfolios. The team averages $8.8 Billion in monthly trading volume supporting 149 Money Managers and 1,473 investment strategies.

In this role, you will:
  • Manage multiple specialized teams of managers and professional individual contributors with focus on delivering operational performance of WIM Advisory Operations across both Brokerage and Trust platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for the implementation of long term strategies, policies and technological advancements in support of Advisory business
  • Define policies and procedures to comply with the United States and foreign compliance procedures
  • Lead Advisory Operations team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues, to meet workflows and productivity, to ensure service level agreements for delivery and quality are met or exceeded
  • Interpret and develop range of policies and procedures with moderate to higher complexity and risk
  • Interface with management and line of business partners formulating future standards and product offerings
  • Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including leadership
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead an Advisory operations team across multiple sites to ensure service and processing standards are met in accordance with enterprise and control standards
  • Fully understand the Advisory Ops processes and ensure there is adequate training and knowledge building within the team to support the business.
  • Drive, motivate and develop the team and establish a culture of high performance, ownership, accountability, transparency, and sustained performance.
  • Drive the team towards continuous process improvements, identifying opportunities for improving quality and accuracy, improving controls, ideas to eliminate waste and driving effective and efficient operations.
  • Build and foster collaborative relationship with business partners and stakeholders. Ensure there is regular connect with key stakeholders to review performance, priorities, and other business initiatives.
  • Build a strong operations rhythm where meritocracy and positive behavior is rewarded, there is adequate talent management and succession planning, and staff are encouraged to learn and grow.
  • Be an active partner with the Transformation teams to ensure seamless delivery within the portfolio
  • Develop requisite reporting & business metrics to monitor and drive the right outcome for the business and LoB stakeholders
  • Demonstrate ability to challenge existing processes where they do not align with the Target Operating model and suggest solutions to bring efficiencies in the process
  • Understand the cost of operations and continuously look at opportunities to drive the cost down without impacting the delivery
  • Maintain strong culture of control and conduct and ensure risk is managed proactively and all process have robust business resiliency which is reviewed and tested periodically along with LoB and risk partners.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management experience

  • Strong experience in managing people, developing strong performing teams and mentoring / coaching people to become leaders.
