Senior Director, Strategic Marketing

WM Annapolis, MD (On Site) Full-Time

I. Job Summary

This position plays an important role as a marketing transformation leader. The role is responsible for leading the strategic marketing process that will drive the integration of WMs marketing strategy, key initiative prioritization, and marketing resource allocation. The ideal incumbent is a strategic thinker, with a bias toward driving innovative ways to grow our business, build competitive capabilities and optimize revenue.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned

  • Partner with the marketing leadership team to drive a holistic strategic roadmap that delivers business outcomes to maximize marketing impact at scale.

  • Drive strategy and long-term marketing planning across a portfolio of services and products.

  • Lead a cross-functional go-to-market process that drives the marketing roadmap across all lines of business for consistent executions across key brand assets (, social media, paid media).

  • Mentor, coach, develop and work with line of business marketing leads to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans.

  • Partner with Sales leadership to provide recommendations on strategy, ensuring Marketings long-term strategic plan is aligned with and delivers on the corporate strategic plan and vision.

  • Lead key launches from concept through execution for both existing and new services/products.

  • Provide ongoing strategic views and direction on multiple initiatives while driving discipline of strategy and execution, and communication of our marketing message.

  • Collaborate with all WM Data & Analytics teams to understand trends in the business and develop insights that translate into growth recommendations.

  • Support decision making by ensuring timely and consistent communication with stakeholders on the progress, changes, and impact of the overall marketing planning process.

  • Manage organizational budget and key internal relationships.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.

Experience: 15 years of experience in Marketing Management/Strategy/Marketing Transformation (in addition to education requirement). Should include 5 years of supervisory experience of marketing teams.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Marketing, Business operations, or management consulting experience at a large-scale B2B+B2C organization

  • Demonstrated experience working with functions across the organization (Operations, Sales, Finance, etc.) and within the marketing team (Creative, Media, etc.).

  • Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage and influence many diverse stakeholders and team members, and gain their co-ownership of outcomes.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment both collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as independently.

  • A self-starter with a passion for problem solving and a naturally curious mind.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in fast-paced ambiguous environment, implementing clear structures, and operational plans with attention to detail

  • Experience and passion for diving into details while also being able to connect the dots and organize efforts into themes for better coordination.

  • Proven ability to simplify large volumes of data and information, enabling business leaders to quickly understand key priorities and risks required to action.

V. Work Environment

Listed below are key points regarding environmental demands and work environment of the job:

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day;

  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely;

  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) rarely;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely;

  • Normal setting for this job is an office setting. Travel to other WM office locations is required.
