NDT Instructor

Element South Windsor/CT, CT Full-Time

Element has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Level 3 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) professional to join its team as an NDT Instructor. In this position, you are an essential member of our NDT and quality team, responsible for equipping our NDT Level 1, 2 and 3 ultrasonic (UT) and eddy current (ET) testing workforce through a standardized training, assessment and certification program. A successful candidate will have sound capabilities in developing, implementing and managing comprehensive, companywide classroom and practical on-the-job training outlines. This position is responsible for the organization, managing and distribution of NDT test exams (both written and practical) for all UT and ET technicians, ensuring robust understanding of NDT method(s) and quality compliance.

It is expected that 70% of the NDT Instructor time will be dedicated to managing the classroom training activities and hands-on NDT training program, 20% supporting NDT technician testing and certification activities across all US locations. 10% supporting various locations in conducting annual NDT inspector performance reviews to ensure ongoing technical competency of existing staff.



Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training and development of colleagues involved in NDT testing in Element
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program for all aspects and certification levels related to ultrasound and eddy current inspection
  • Participate in and advise on adjustments to NDT training & testing requirements
  • Schedule training courses with prospective trainees at locations across North America
  • Support development of a world-class NDT testing program through employee development
  • Travel within North America (approximately 35% dependent on location) with occasional international travel


Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Completion of a two-year technical program preferred
  • (3) years of UT/ET experience as a certified Level 3 in an inspection / training capacity working with raw material and finished parts including experience in the operation of both manual and automated UT/ET inspection systems
  • Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods and product manufacturing and inspection technologies used by Element
  • Individual must successfully pass ASNT UT & ET Level 3 testing requirements within the first (6) months in his/her position
  • Experience in creating and implementing training programs in NDT
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey very dense technical information to entry level technicians in a manner that is easy to absorb and retainable
