Safety Director

Job Description:

The Safety Director is responsible for ensuring the safety of the workplace. The director accomplishes this by coordinating, administering and implementing comprehensive training programs in occupational, industrial and environmental safety.


  • Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance
  • Complete risk analysis of projects and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks and necessary precautionary items
  • Liaise with external parties such as government-employed inspectors to evaluate the process of construction sites
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and device solutions to safety-related issues on project sites
  • Review blueprint designs for disposal systems, evacuation plans, lighting, and ventilation to ensure minimum or no danger to the safety or health of the site guests or workers
  • Develops, recommends and communicates strategy to all audiences in order to meet safety goals and objectives that support safe work practices.
  • Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures
  • Ensures compliance for federal, state and local regulatory agencies, including the Department of Transportation (DOT): and the Occupational Safety and HealthAdministration (OSHA)
  • Work closely with Environmental personnel on proper audits and procedures necessary at all job & plant sites and the terminal location.
  • Train all company employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures; mentor managers in their roles as safety coaches.
  • Discipline subcontractors and employees who fail to comply with minimum safety standards
  • Represent construction company in meetings with government bodies and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety
  • Interact with licensed bodies for regular update on legal regulations and program initiatives on workplace safety and environmental issues.
  • Manage all worker's compensation claims and documentation; Provide quarterly and yearly reports of the financial status worker's compensation for the year

  • Oversees and directs the investigation of accidents and incidents: takes immediate corrective action where appropriate: collects data and studies it using root causes analysis techniques: and makes recommendations for modifications of practices and procedures to prevent recurrence.

  • Provide monthly safety reports to President

  • Prepare and conduct annual safety day

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
