Senior Accountant - Glastonbury, CT 06033
**Direct Hire**
Responsibilities:
- Manage Billing, collection, and posting of funds for reimbursement
- Responsible for posting and preparation of monthly subsidy checks to in strict accordance with the policies and procedures
- Reconciles all cash accounts contained in the general ledger to the appropriate bank statements
- Provides a detailed accounting, on a monthly basis, to the administrator of the subsidy
- Responsible for billing, collection and posting of appropriate out of pocket expenses, in accordance with the administrative services contract
- Assists account management, via the provision and analysis of information as required, in the preparation of reports to the board of directors or the administrator
- Reconciles material amounts contained in the general ledger
- Performs all grant accounting in accordance with regulatory guidelines
- Prepares and analyzes loss reserve worksheets, when appropriate, for reasonableness and accuracy
- Determines claim submission completion factors from SEHRA/CSEHRP system generated triangles, calculate and post appropriate reserve amount to general ledger
- Prepares financial statements on a monthly basis for presentation to the board of directors
- Works with controller on assessment calculations and communications
- Maintains current assessment bases for pools
- Calculates, posts, and collects assessment payments from carriers
- Calculates interest amounts due on late payments in accordance with the plans of operations
- Compiles and delivers year-end audit package to independent auditors, with appropriate supporting documentation
- Works with auditors throughout the year to plan for and execute successful completion of the audits
- Prepares response draft to any audit points including recommended process improvements
- Works with controller and account management on special projects and identifying potential issues
- Prepares financial statements on a monthly basis for presentation to the board of directors
- Works with controller on assessment calculations and communications
- Maintains current assessment bases for assigned pools
- Responsible for posting of assessments in the general ledger of assessments levied on carriers
- Calculates interest amounts due on late payments in accordance with the plans of operations
- Compiles and delivers year-end audit package to independent auditors, with appropriate supporting documentation
- Works with auditors during the audit and provides information to account management, as needed, in the preparation of monthly and annual administrators reports
- Responsible for tax return preparation, including amended returns
- Works with controller and account management on special projects and identifying potential issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year College or university
- 4+ years general accounting or finance experience and/or training
- 3+ years experience with MS Dynamics/Great Plains
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
- Working knowledge of health insurance industry, government affairs, and subsidy administration
- Ability to exercise sound judgement
- Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills
- Team player with a selfless attitude
