If you are located in MN, the role will be office based. If you are located outside of MN, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting and policy governance for UHG Corporate Services Finance
  • Responsible for the following UHG Corporate Services functions:
    • Lease accounting
    • Payment services (A/P)
    • Cost Savings Initiatives & Reporting
    • Workforce analytics
    • Database Management
  • Management of these functions includes:
    • Oversight of all related balance sheet reconciliations
    • Development of forecasts 3-4 times per year
    • Relationship management with partner teams such as UHG Corporate Accounting & Policy, UHG Payment Services, Real Estate Services Strategy and third-party Lease Administration
  • Provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP and Company Policies
  • Develop and maintain internal control structures and procedures
    • Ensure UHG Corporate Services balance sheet is clean, complete and activity (i.e., accruals) are substantiated
  • Collaborate with UHG business teams to translate accounting treatment into action
  • Partner with operations teams to evaluate and report on the value of Corporate Services to segment finance leaders throughout the company
  • Manage two accounting professionals
  • Lead any financial audit process that involves UHG Corporate Services
  • Support various special projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years demonstrated progression in accounting or financial reporting and analysis
  • Experience successfully managing multiple requests and projects, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
  • Prior experience with lease accounting and the corresponding GAAP application
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel, Word, and other financial reporting tools (i.e., SmartView, PeopleSoft)
  • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
  • Ability to anticipate accounting and financial reporting actions through close collaboration with partner teams
  • Ability to work independently; self-start on process improvement opportunities; strike the right balance of knowing when to seek counsel from management versus when to execute
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience, especially supervision of a financial processing team such as accounts payable
  • Special consideration will be given for candidates that demonstrate experience in support of a financial database and/or the creation/transformation/audit of large datasets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
