We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented zOS Storage Administrator to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.
The zOS Storage Administrator will work as part of a managed Storage-as-a-Service environment for a large Government client and will be responsible for the management of the client’s enterprise storage infrastructure.
Specific duties include:
o Manage enterprise storage infrastructure in support of client’s mainframe and open systems computing.
o Provides a deep technical subject matter expertise and leadership for analyzing hardware and software needs.
o Work independently and with vendors to install, support, and upgrade storage infrastructure.
o Work with client and storage vendors to maintain supported microcode levels.
o Work with storage vendors to review microcode release notes: Evaluate risk based on runtime and machine hours then work with client to plan for and conduct maintenance on storage arrays.
o Troubleshoot escalated storage hardware, configuration and availability issues.
o Investigate and resolve storage performance issues.
o Monitor the environment for performance and stability issues to meet Service Level Objectives.
o Provides oversight and tracking of support tickets, ensuring that issues and requests are resolved in a timely manner.
o Pro-actively monitor the environment and correct potential or present issues as identified.
o Provides senior technical consulting internally to teammates and externally to a variety of IT teams.
o Follow the clients’ and internal procedures for change management, incident management, and escalation.
o Work with peers across multiple business units. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
o Provision storage per Storage-as-a-Service requirements.
o Document new technical procedures and processes developed in coordination with Storage-as-a-Service business goals.
o Identify new process and procedure improvements.
o Ability to obtain Government agency BI security clearance with drug screening
o Bachelor's degree and 8 years overall experience
o Minimum of 5 years’ experience with enterprise storage from one or more of the following: SVC, EMC, HDS, IBM or NetApp
IBM Storage Admins:
o Required Experience with IBM DS8880/DS8870 (Mandatory)
o Required Experience with IBM Flashcopy, Metro Mirror, Global Mirror (Mandatory)
o Required Experience with IBM HW planning, site prep, installs and upgrades (Mandatory)
o Required Experience with IBM technology including DASD replication (PPRC, GDPS & HyperSwap) in support of HA and DR (Mandatory)
HDS Storage Admins:
o Experience with Hitachi VSP/USP, AMS
o Experience with Hitachi True copy, Universal manager
SVC Storage Admin:
o Preferable experience with multi Petabyte environments and understand the best practices for SVC.
o Preferable experience with migrating large environments behind the SVC.
o Ability to work with in a team environment and participate in Knowledge transfer with teammates and customer.
o Ability to Document the SVC environment.
o Keep up to date with the latest SVC codes and recommend fixes/code upgrades for the production environment. Come up with test plans to test in the Lab and validate all recommended code levels.
EMC Storage Admin:
o Preferable Experience with EMC VNX, VMAX, CLARiiON, Centera, and Celerra storage devices
o Preferable Experience with EMC SRDF/TimeFinder, Navisphere, RecoverPoint and Data Domain
NetApp Storage Admins:
o Preferable experience with NetApp V-Series And E-Series
o Preferable experience with NetApp OnTap and OnCommand
Preferable experience with HP EVA, IBM DS8880/DS8870, Hitachi VSP/USP, Netapp
* Experience with Brocade SAN Fabric switches
* OS Administration: zOS, VMware, Solaris, Linux, Windows, AIX, and HP-UX
* NetApp OnCommend management software
The ideal candidate would be a Data Center Hardware Manager or zOS Systems Programmer with experience, expertise and responsibility for working with vendors and technical staff to coordinate the site prep, planning, install, upgrade and maintenance of the infrastructure supporting the zOS mainframe and open systems environments.
