The Accounts Receivable Specialist is a key component in the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) process for Gordian Medical. Reporting directly with the Revenue Development Manager or Insurance Manager, job functions will include responsibility for accurate review of accounts receivable balances. To ensure that claims are paid at the companies’ negotiated rate. Through this with the RCM and other departments, the goal will involve ensuring the collected rate for service is received and the collections goals can be met.
Accountable to Revenue Development Manager and Insurance Manager
¾ Work in accordance to the companies’ standards, practices and policies
¾ Call payers for claim updates
¾ Work Accounts Receivable
¾ Update patient files accurately and effectively with all collection activity
¾ Work in coordination with all departments to meet organizational goals
¾ Work closely with the Cash Team and Audit and Appeals
¾ Identify managed care contractual issues and provide feedback to payer relations
¾ Provide excellent customer service to clients, customers and co-workers
¾ Communicate regularly with RCM Assistance Manager, Revenue Development Manager and Insurance Manager
¾ Attend meetings as required
¾ Attend continuing education courses when available
¾ Peer training
¾ Recognize denial trends
¾ Continuously work towards The Company’s goal and vision.
¾ Weekly Summary Reports
¾ 1-2 years’ experience in a medical/billing office preferred
¾ Previous experience in insurance verification, pre-authorization, billing and collections strongly preferred
¾ Knowledge of health care system, including but not limited to Medicare, Commercial and Medi-cal/Medicaid coverages.
¾ Detail oriented, strong communicator, organized and able to multi task in a fast-paced environment.
¾ Basic knowledge in medical terminology.
¾ Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with other team members.
¾ Knowledge in Outlook E-mail, Word and Excel.
¾ Excellent organizational skills, ability to problem solve and work as an independent worker.
¾ Good math and computer skills.
¾ Compliance with HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
