In this role, the Civil EIT will support the Buildings, Infrastructure, and Advanced Facilities Group in Transportation and work with senior engineers and planners on complex highway and roadway design projects, particularly in the area of transportation safety. Conduct safety studies and analysis, reviewing policy and providing direction to assist in saving lives on New Mexico roadways.
A candidate should have an understanding of data analysis,and be interested in applying highway safety research to transportation planning and design projects. Experience with traffic analysis, safety studies especially using the AASHTO HSM, and technical memo preparation are key skills necessary for success. A candidate should have a BS in Civil Engineering or related field (MS or higher preferred) with an emphasis on highway safety, a minimum of one year of highway safety experience including relevant education beyond a BS; or research, traffic engineering or planning experience along with knowledge relating to the use of databases and GIS. The individual should have good communication skills, and a desire to grow both professionally as well as personally with each engineering career opportunity that this position will provide.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required
- At least one previous summer design internship on highway safety education, research, or traffic experience Knowledge of the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual (HSM) a plus Experience using databases, programming, and GIS
