Overview

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems is an Information Technology (IT) professional who partners with leaders in the Accounting and Finance departments to solve business challenges by leveraging process, technology and systems expertise. They use their knowledge, skills and abilities to identify requirements, prioritize work effort and deliver solutions that further organizational objectives. This role will balance operational support and project / implementation work. The ideal candidate has excellent documentation and communication skills and is adept at building relationships with their IT team members and business stakeholders.

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems will perform a variety of critical tasks to support daily operations including analyzing, designing and implementing financial system changes and upgrades as well as process changes to meet the business needs of the organization and scale as the organization grows. They will play a key role in the selection and implementation of financial systems. This role reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Business Applications.

Responsibilities

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems will oversee all technical activities required to support the financial systems within the company:
● Identify, analyze and prioritize business and functional requirements
● Understand and maintain Accounting and Purchasing Models in Manufacturing and Service type environments
● Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, process improvements and system goals to support requirements
● Help design, document and maintain system processes with an eye to ensuring sound Financial Reporting and Analysis
● Develop specifications, process flows, data mapping and diagrams for developers and testers to follow. Work with the developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications
● Define, document and coordinate the execution of testing procedures, and develop test cases to serve the overall quality assurance process
● Assist in the development of training documentation and manage the execution of end user training
● Identify Accounting / Financial Integrities that ensure smoother and quicker Financial closes

Competencies

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems must demonstrate the following attributes:
● Strong analytical skills
● Ability to design interfaces and identifying where Financial integrity is required
● Ability to collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Leads and IT team to resolve issues and ensuring solutions are viable and consistent
● Conduct regular reviews of systems and generate reports on efficiencies and improvement areas
● Structure and prioritize business requirements and consistently communicate plans to stakeholders for review and approval
● Demonstrated leadership and the ability to provide exceptional client service, research and resolve issues and a commitment to continuous learning

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or other related discipline with an emphasis on Accounting or Financial Systems
● Minimum of 5 years of experience working within a department dealing with Finance related activities
● Strong time management, interpersonal and problem solving skills

Knowledge

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems must have in-depth knowledge and experience of the following:
● Proven experience in process and systems analysis with primary focus of financial applications
● Experience in evaluation, selection and implementation of IT systems
● Solid understanding of Financial business processes
● Good grasp of Procurement methods and activities
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
● Experience within the manufacturing and distribution industry is a plus
● Experience with JD Edwards World ERP, Coupa is a plus
