Michael Baker International is seeking an entry level to 2 years experienced Staff Accountant with Government Compliance exposure for our Moon Township, PA location. CPA preferred or on track to obtain CPA.

 Only serious and qualified candidates will be considered.


The Staff Accountant (Government Compliance) is responsible for: (i) Preparation of the indirect cost rate and incurred Cost Submission in accordance with applicable regulations; (ii) supporting project and compliance audits; (iii) supporting the ongoing effectiveness of the company’s regulatory compliance systems; and (iv) additional close-related responsibilities to support the Corporate Accounting team.

  • Preparation of the annual Indirect Cost Rates including the associated third-party audit and certification process.

  • Review of overhead related transactions for compliance with Federal Cost Principles, such as Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 31 and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

  • Assist with the annual audit reviews or project audits performed by various federal, state and local government audit agencies.

  • Assist in the maintenance of the Department's website for sharing information with audit agencies.

  • Provide guidance and support to the Senior Manager of the Department, executives and operations management on FAR and CAS regulatory compliance issues.

  • Support the ongoing effectiveness of the company's regulatory compliance systems, policies and controls.

  • Provide guidance and support the company's proposal pricing efforts including the preparation of certified indirect cost rates, wage rates and escalation rates.

  • Support FAR and CAS compliance of federal, state, local and quasi-government contracts.

  • Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending training.

  • Other accounting duties as assigned including supporting the Corporate Accounting team with close-related responsibilities such as fixed assets, prepaid assets, accruals and other misc. journal entries and reconciliations, which is expected to be approximately 30% of this role



  • Four-year degree preferably in Accounting or Finance

  • Entry level to 2 years accounting or finance related experience

  • CPA preferred or on track to obtain CPA

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required to direct staff, distribute information and answer inquiries accurately and effectively.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software (Excel, Word, Access)

  • Interpersonal skills required to effectively work with all levels of management.

  • Ability to organize work-load required to research and answer questions and complete duties in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple project deadlines in an efficient and timely manner.
