Description
Position Purpose:
The Director of Campus Life oversees all aspects and staff leadership of Campus Dining, Residence Life, and other auxiliary revenue streams as assigned
Through ensuring a service-oriented culture of hospitality, a discipleship experience in the residence halls aligned with the mission and vision of Charis Bible College, and a critical focus on aligning revenue streams to key strategic objectives, the Director of Campus Life plays a vital role in supporting Charis Operations
Essential Duties:
- Work with the Executive Director of Operations to provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of dining services and residence life.
- Supervise campus dining services, ensuring high-quality, nutritious, and diverse meal options that meet the needs of the student body.
- Develop and manage meal plan options, ensuring they are cost-effective, flexible, and meet the diverse dietary needs of students.
- Oversee all housing operations, including recruiting for resident living, the housing selection process, residence hall management, room assignments, and housing policies.
- Collaborate with key departments such as the Office of Admissions and the Office of the Bursar to ensure healthy processes for residents.
- Serve as a point of escalation for all major customer service issues related to Campus Dining and all student discipleship/behavioral issues from the residence halls
- Ensure that Campus Dining executesall key commitments for VIP meals, major events, and ministry catering needs
- Create and implement engaging residence life programs and events that foster a sense of community, personal development, and academic success.
- Provide support and resources for students living on campus, addressing concerns related to housing, dining, and overall campus life.
- Develop and implement crisis management protocols for campus housing, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of residence life and dining staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Develop and manage budgets for campus dining and housing operations, ensuring financial efficiency and sustainability.
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures for campus housing and dining services, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Foster a sense of community within campus housing through programs, events, and activities that encourage student engagement and interaction.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of residence halls and dining facilities, working closely with maintenance and custodial staff to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Manage student conduct issues within campus housing, promoting a respectful and safe living environment in alignment with the values of Charis Bible College.
- Enforce all housing and meal plan contract provisions working with the legal team as appropriate
- Promote health and wellness initiatives within campus housing and dining services
- Continuously assess and improve campus life services through student feedback, data analysis, and best practices.
- Ensure that key revenue streams are properly aligned to business objectives and goals
- Develop and oversee orientation programs for new residents, helping them transition smoothly into campus life.
- Collaborate with other campus departments and external partners to enhance campus life offerings and resources.
- Coordinate and support events and activities that enhance campus life, including social, educational, and recreational opportunities.
- Proactively identify service gaps toward students and work with appropriate departments to improve student experiences.
- Maintain interdepartmental relationships, working closely with all necessary teams forcontinual improvement and implementation of excellent services for the student experience.
- Lead team meetings and department direction by the 9 Points of Organizational Management and the Maximum CEO system to foster team growth and efficacy.
- Formulate professional presentations, proposals, and analytical representations for high-level, strategic meetings.
- Follow through on special projects and initiatives as requested by the Executive Director of Charis Operations
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, attending to the tone of verbal and electronic communication, as well as the formatting, grammar, syntax, and other elements that support clear messaging.
- Superior time management, organization, and administration with attention to detail.
- Keen eye for troubleshooting and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong budgetary skills
- Effective supervision of Campus Life personnel and completion of all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Detail-oriented and precise record keeping and data tracking.
- Strategic prioritization of various tasks and assignments.
- Inspiring and humble management and leadership, with assertiveness to direct a team effectively and with clear communication and expectations.
- Tactical logic and innovation to ensure accurate records.
- Strong technical skills with the ability to learn new software quickly and train others in it, as well as utilizing presentation platforms and student information databases, and integrating these platforms when necessary.
- Proficiently operate a computer and navigate all of the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- High level of professionalism and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Service orientation, grounded in compassion and partnership, reflecting the mission and vision of Charis Bible College, and elevating the school's word-of-mouth recruitment and retention.
Requirements:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must sign the Statement of Faith.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
- Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred
- Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
- 3+ years of professional management experience is required.
- Project management experience is strongly desired
- Experience managing large budgets is desired
- Restaurant, catering, or event planning experience is a plus
- Residence Life experience is a plus
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
