MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C4ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provides the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors, systems and command and control architecture.

MTEQ is seeking an Electrical Engineer I with extensive knowledge and strong communication skills to join our team of well qualified, diverse individuals at our Lorton, VA Office.


The Electrical Engineer 1/2 role supports our experienced engineering staff in the design and development of EO/IR Sensor Systems and Embedded Electronics/Computing Systems for military applications. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of Electrical, Electronic and Firmware Engineers in the prototype development and transition/fielding of leading edge technologies supporting MTEQ's military customer base. The candidate will work in a fast-paced R&D environment, utilizing sophisticated technologies to support the rapid development of prototype systems for military, federal and commercial projects primarily involving EO/IR Sensor Systems, but also including Radar and other sensing modalities. The candidate will participate in the design, development and testing of these systems, alongside leading experts in their field as part of a multi-disciplinary development team.


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge and skills in Electrical, Electronic, and/or Firmware design methods.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, documents and procedures.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and tools used for troubleshooting and diagnostics of electrical/electronic equipment and systems.

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • 0-5 years of related experience

  • Familiarity with designing and developing custom wire harness assemblies; wiring for rugged/high reliability applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with any of the following is a strong plus:

    • New product design and development engineering
    • Design and development of custom electronics using microcontrollers and/or FPGAs
    • Use of imaging sensors and systems
    • SolidWorks Electrical, Altium Designer, OrCAD or similar electrical/electronic CAD software packages
    • Embedded software development for microcontroller applications
    • VHDL/Verilog FPGA firmware development
    • Embedded form-factor computing hardware

Ability to obtain Security clearance required. Active Security Clearance a plus
