Michael Baker International’s civil engineering professionals manage and staff active projects in over 40 countries on five continents. Services are provided for a broad range of projects and capabilities, including highways, airports, bridges, rail and transit systems, government and commercial facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, oil and gas infrastructure, and commercial/urban development. Our fields of expertise span all areas of civil engineering and include an extensive variety of specialty disciplines, such as environmental compliance and restoration, coastal engineering, urban development, and mining.


Manage project teams and participate in  preparation of various plans, permits, designs and reports associated with environmental compliance programs for air, water, hazardous waste, solid waste, petroleum products. 

Coordinate with clients, project managers and other engineering and technical staff to develop engineering solutions to meet environmental compliance requirements for various federal and state regulatory programs including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act.

Communicate engineering issues effectively to various audiences (both written and verbal communication).


  • Four year degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related engineering field.
  • 8 to 15 years of experience in environmental engineering with a focus on compliance services.  Experience with Federal or DoD compliance programs, particularly USN, USMC, USCG, a strong plus.

  • Strong project or task management, technical writing and presentation skills.  DoD or USCG program management experience a strong plus.

  • Knowledge of various environmental compliance programs for air, water, hazardous waste, solid waste, petroleum products.

  • PE or ability to obtain PE within 6 months.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team environment.

  • Ability to provide oversight and direction on project assignments to junior staff.  Experience with managing and mentoring staff is highly desired.

  • Ability to effectively work on multiple project assignments and meet project deadlines.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel.

  • OSHA Hazwoper 40 hour training or ability to successfully pass OSHA training within 4 months.

  • Ability to pass a medical physical, as required by OSHA.

  • US Citizenship, with the ability to obtain a US passport, government Common Access Card (CAC).
