Master Production Planner

General Tool Company Cincinnati, OH (Onsite) Full-Time
CB Est Salary: $56K - $94K/Year

FUNCTION:

  • Translate current business, sales forecasts and market demand (including historical sales) into a Master Production Plan (MPP) with a Resource Requirements Plan (RRP).   
  • Evaluate changes, additions or alternatives and modify the MPP as demand requirements changes.   
  • Translate the MPP and RPP into a Rough Cut Capacity Plan (RCCP) and a detailed, time phased Capacity Requirements Plan (CRP). 
  • Summarize and communicate resource requirements, timing and impact to the organization. 
  • Facilitate information processing by modifying the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system to create a finite loading model of the operational throughput. 
  • Verify the accuracy of the scheduling output from the (MRP) system to ensure proper work center loading and timing that will meet customer shipment dates.

 

KEY RESULTS AREAS:

  • Publication and communication of Master Production Plan and capacity plans (RCCP and CRP) to appropriate levels of the organization. 
  • Changes to the Master Production Plan are mitigated and disruptions to the CRP and weekly/monthly production schedule are minimized. 
  • MRP accuracy and feasibility where available capacity is maximized and utilized to the benefit of the business. 
  • Optimal flow of production and resource efficiency.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate with the main stakeholders in Program Management, Business Development, Finance, Manufacturing, Technical Services, Quality and Supply Chain regarding demand requirements and impacts.  
  • Review Business Development opportunities monthly and propose delivery commitments based on knowledge of current and potential demand. 
  • Update the Master Production Plan in support of the SOP process meetings. 
  • Perform demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months. 
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan.  Identify gaps and drive solutions including metrics on production performance to the production schedule. 
  • Conduct a monthly review backlog with the Project Mangers to determine changes that may impact internal schedules or customer expectations. 
  • Develop, execute and maintain tools as well as techniques required to evaluate the impact of proposed schedule changes. 
  • Ensure coordination with Production Control Coordinators (PCCs) to execute the production schedule on a weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Timely reporting of key metrics.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • BA/BS degree with a preferred area of study in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management. 
  • Minimum five years’ experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity and efficiency measurements. 
  • Experience managing project and program financial performance. 
  • Advanced user of MS Excel or ERP data collection systems. Experience with Tactic is a plus. 
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand and replenishment systems. 
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. 
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills. 
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities. 

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Develop a close relationship with the Project Managers to translate the master schedule into a business cost model.
Work with executive management, departmental and project manages to glean all information necessary to monitor and revise the Capacity Requirements Planning.
