Job Description

Serves as part of the sunapsis Development Team and conducts systems analysis; develops project plans; re-factors code; and programs new code or modules. These case management solutions are built upon the sunapsis software framework developed at Indiana University; and requires programming in MS SQL Server, ColdFusion, Java, XML technologies, JavaScript and modern HTML5 web platforms for services built upon this framework.

Works in an agile development team on software project initiatives developed in Java and ColdFusion. Works with the Quality Control team on an iterative process for testing and resolutions, along with technical and initial functional documentation. Provides technical support for the maintenance and upgrade of the underlying sunapsis infrastructure components, including packaging and deployment of releases. Provides expert consultation to the sunapsis Quality Control & Client Relations teams to aid in resolving technical issues both for IU users and client institutions.

Serves as a database administrator for databases associated to the developed applications which requires design and development of database tables, SQL queries, stored procedures, database views and triggers in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. Designs and develops automated data feed and analysis between the SQL Server databases and the University data warehouse via Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and for XMLbase client feeds.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, information science, or other discipline with an advanced mathematics component such as Economics, Mathematics, and Chemistry and two years programming experience.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Experience with object oriented languages, such as Java, and experience with web scripting languages, such as ColdFusion or PHP; demonstrated ability working in a client – programmer environment; and core database understanding. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, customer service attitude, and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment and with non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications 

Background in the field of immigration for higher education. Previous database programming experience, such as stored procedures, functions, and integration services on Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle. Experience with web technologies (HTML5 and Javascript). Experience with either ColdFusion or Java. Master’s degree in computer science, informatics, information science, or other closely related field. Previous experience with using sunapsis or developing pluggable components for it.
