Our client is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This person will undertake a range of payroll administration activities to ensure an effective support service to the payroll office function.
You will handle the payroll processing and oversee the payroll team. Experience with wage garnishments and tax withholding preferred. You will oversee a payroll volume of 50,000 associates across 3 divisions in multiple states.
Your Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

Inputs data to computerized payroll systems to prepare weekly, biweekly, and monthly payroll, including updating and adjusting employee master file records upon notice of changes to deductions or status. Performs system data loads.
Completes payroll processing activities, such as: computes wage and overtime payments, calculates and records payroll deductions, and processes requests for off-cycle payments.
Prints manual checks and releases information keyed into computerized payroll systems into online banking systems.
Answers complex questions (via email and phone) from employees and management regarding payroll matters. Ensures compliance with payroll policies and procedures.
May audit earnings and deduction totals, review system output (e.g., registers and reports), determine and correct out-of-balance conditions, and prepare special reports for management.
Performs standard administrative tasks, including answering phones, preparing reports, maintaining records, and tracking information using case management tool.
Audits and processes payroll information submitted by Business Partners for accuracy, policy compliance, and completeness.
Approval of staff overtime as needed according to business criteria.
Authorizing payroll transactions according to business criteria.
Lead medium to complex projects associated to payroll and timekeeping processing.
Handle customer and business service escalations within department.
Maintains confidentiality of employee and company data.
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation (preferred)
Three to five (3-5+) years of experience in payroll, multi-state payroll processing required
Considerable knowledge of payroll practices, particularly with stock options, including local, state, and federal policies and regulations in a medium to large company required
Able to keep confidential with sensitive information
Functional knowledge of automated large scale payroll application like ADP Vantage, Altipro or Workday required.
Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications required
Ability to cultivate & maintain strong customer relationships required
Bi-Lingual in Spanish preferred
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required
Strong organizational skills required
Ability to resolve complex payroll issues required
