Human Resource Generalist

The Human Resource Generalist, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, Plastic Pipe & Conduit, will be responsible performing HR-related duties on a professional level at our Fort Mill, SC facility. This role will also carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant Human Resource experience or prior success as a Human Resource Generalist or equivalent position at Atkore International. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program and writes and places advertisements.

Consult with managers and supervisors on absenteeism, turnover and workforce data and take actions where necessary

Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems

Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures

Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures

Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview, and select applicants

Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.

Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.

Administer benefits and performance management systems, as well as safety programs

Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits

Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel, wage, and safety related data

Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database. As well as updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions

Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing federal and state requirements applicable to human resource, safety and payroll matters; conduct investigations and maintain records

Develops and maintain affirmative action program; prepare EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

Maintain and process payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data

Receive, process, and maintain requests for information regarding unemployment, workers comp, and employee assistance programs

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Human Resources focus; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 - 5 years of relevant Human Resource experience.

Bilingual abilities, both written and verbal, are preferred

Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace

Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

High attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization

Shows initiative

Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
