Eaton’s Automotive division, a part of our Vehicle group, is currently seeking a Master Technician – Machinist to join our team. This position will be based out of our Southfield, MI. Relocation and Sponsorship benefits are not available for this position. Position Overview: In this role, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Divisional Engineering Imperatives by maintaining a high level of involvement, motivation, and keeping abreast of current technical changes. You will conceptualize, develop, and produce various one-off sample components and fixtures to support our product development process along with providing valuable input to any potential product improvements. Hands on work will provide a deep knowledge of the product and provide a greater understanding when innovating new parts and fixtures. Performs machining in accordance with laboratory procedures and safety requirements. Promptly and effectively communicates machining progress and issues. Trouble-shoot and repair fixturing as needed. Perform operations and adjustments with hand tools as required. Complies with required safety standards and procedures. Continuously improves equipment and processes to provide a safe working environment. May assist with operation of laboratory equipment such as airflow benches, liquid leak apparatus, durability test equipment and vehicle fuel systems for testing, characterization and prototype build as time permits. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: GED or High School Diploma required 5 years of machining experience Ability to operate general machine shop equipment including grinders, drill press and various saws. Experience reading drawings and blueprints. Ability to design and machine simple test fixtures Mathematical and GD&T skills. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Relocation is not provided for this role, candidates will need to be located within 50 miles of Southfield, MI Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred qualifications: Associate’s Degree and/or Journeyman certification Ability to operate CAD Software Experience machining plastics and aluminum Working knowledge of Automotive Fuel Systems and individual system components Formal machine training 10+ years of machining experience Understands TS 16949 activities Position Success Criteria: Ability to operate a mill – both manual and Prototrax (a non-G code numeric machining center) Ability to operate a lathe Strong organizational skills to complete multiple machining requests.
