The Arts & Learning Conservatory exists to make high quality arts equitable and accessible to all children, regardless of socioeconomic status. It is a highly awarded, leading after-school arts provider in Orange County, with programs accessible to all children regardless of income or background. The goal is to set students up for success in life artistically, academically, and socially. Founded in 2004, the Arts & Learning Conservatory has reached over 10,000 children across numerous campuses throughout Southern California.


About the Role

The Teaching Artist is a non-exempt, non-profit instructor position that reports directly to the Theatre Programs Manager. The teaching artist provides instruction, leadership, and supervision to students in our theatre classes. The Teaching Artist may work between 10-20 hours per week. A highly visible teaching role, the Teaching Artist will support and uphold the mission and vision of ALC. This role is responsible for instructing and preparing students with ALC-provided curriculum throughout the school year. It is required to cultivate and maintain solid working relationships with various schools and community partners, as well.


Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students in classes
  • Minimum 2 days per week, maximum 4
  • After-school hours (between 1-5pm)
  • Follow provided curriculum and teach all major learning objectives
  • Direct productions of musical theatre shows
  • Attend and lead all rehearsals; including tech week
  • Complete daily rehearsal reports
  • Work closely with co-teacher, costumes, production, and admin
  • Respond to all communications within 24 hours
  • Effectively manage program forms, records, and parent communication
  • Attend regular meetings with support staff
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Music, Theatre Arts, Technical Theatre, Arts Management, or a related field (preferred but not required). Previous experience in an age-appropriate theatre education program. Familiarity with non-profit organization business models.

Pay range and compensation package

Nonexempt PT $25.00-35.00/hr
