Job Description

We are looking for a keen individual to join on Information Technology team as a Business Intelligence Analyst.  This opportunity is located in Mason City, Iowa.   The primary role of the Business Intelligence analyst is to perform and/ or lead the technical design and development of complex reporting solutions using Business Intelligence (BI) tools and data from varied data sources. BI analysts must be able to work with customers in a distributed environment across many different business functions. This person is responsible for data analysis, creating reports / dashboards, and query generation on complex data sets based on customer requests.  Qualifications:   
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations of each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. 
Education: 
  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
Experience: 
  • Requires prior working experience with requirements gathering, data analysis and data warehousing concepts. 
Other: 
  • Strong knowledge in Database systems, including Data Warehousing concepts and familiarity with OLAP technology.  
  • Proficiency in using SQL and T-SQL, including the creation of Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, Tables and Views. 
  • Proficiency in SQL language.Ability to use computed or aggregated columns, averages, sums or statistical computations, while writing sub-queries, nested queries and complex SQL statements to present the required data. 
  • Proficiency in working with data from multiple sources including SQL, DB2, Excel, and Access using ETL methodologies.  
  • Must possess an understanding of performance and scalability related to database design and be able to create well structured, maintainable reports following report processing best practices. 
  • Experience with dashboard and graphical reporting using a wide variety of data visualization practices and software like Qlik, Power BI etc 
  • Must be comfortable working with customers directly and possess the ability to respond to customer requests or events as they occur and develop the appropriate solution. 
  • Strong working knowledge of BI concepts and tools, preferably Cognos or SSRS, and Data analysis programming using R, Python and Julia. 
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments with general direction from management and technical lead. 
  • Must live or relocate within the local area of Mason City, IA.

  • Uses technology to mine data sources and look for trends. 
  • Determines what data trend means to the business and ability to differentiate crucial data. 
  • Communicates the findings to management and recommend solutions to increase revenue, profits and efficiency. 
  • Works on multiple large projects and many data streams and many deadlines.  
  • Abide by, support and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, AADG policies and procedures and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct. 
  • Consistently supports and promotes a safe and harmonious working environment.

  • Remain informed on relevant technology, constantly seeks to expand knowledge base and skill set, and requests necessary training to augment these objectives. 
  • Plan and prepare technical reports, memoranda, and instructional documentation as required. 
  • Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping policies. 
  Analytical Ability 
  • Requires collection of traits that emphasizes a logical, rational, objective and unbiased approach to tackling new ideas. Being able to effectively research and gather right information from right sources. Ability to look at the collected data and find patterns and trends. Possess strong visual communication skills and ability to share the findings across all functional areas in the organizations.
