Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community.  We are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center.  The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services.  We serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health.  The hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.

Kingwood Pines Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Intake Counselor (LCSW, LMSW, LPC). The Intake Counselor provides psychiatric assessments and basic medical screening to all psychiatric and chemical dependency patients presented for assessment and evaluation. Coordinates the admission process for inpatient, partial or outpatient programs.  Facilitates referrals for outpatient services and other community resources.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform initial basic medical screening and appropriate clinical assessment on all persons who present for an evaluation.
  • Recognizes signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
  • Recognizes signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
  • Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations.
  • Perform and document all pre-certifications on all admissions.
  • Facilitate referrals to outpatient treatment services.
  • Assume personal responsibility for excellent customer service.
  • Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking behavioral health services.
  • Document calls and related information on Intake form and enters data into computer system.
  • Stay abreast of organization’s programs and services.
  • Assist Director with performance monitors.

Position Requirements:

  • Education:  Master’s Degree Social Worker, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience in a psychiatric, behavioral health setting preferred. Experience may be obtained as an intern.  
  • Licensure Required:  Licensed Master Social Worker or, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or, Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Additional Requirements:   Must complete and maintain training in CPR and HWC – aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training. Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation.

Kingwood Pines treatment center offers inpatient treatment, outpatient services, and partial hospitalization programs for those suffering from psychiatric, behavioral health, or chemical dependency issues. We provide a caring and calm environment and treat all patients with respect and dignity. Our programs are able to serve all ages including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Specifically in regards to our inpatient programs, out treatment center has 116 licensed acute care inpatients beds: 16 for PICU, 18 for adult psych/16 chemical dependency, 16 for geriatric care, 16 for adolescent boys, 18 for adolescent girls, and 16 for children. All of our physicians are board certified in general psychiatry. In addition we have three board certified physicians in addiction psychiatry, three in geriatric psychiatry, and two in forensic psychiatry.
