Roadway Drainage/Hydraulics Project Engineer

Lochmueller Group Indianapolis, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

We are looking for a talented Project Engineer to join our Roadway/Highway team in Indianapolis, IN. This role will work with our Roadway Design team and will primarily focus on the hydraulics/drainage design for our diverse transportation projects. In this position, the candidate will:

    • Develops project designs in conformance with the latest design standards.
    • May be assigned management of project and will be given budgetary limitations and staffing to complete the project.
    • Stays current on available modeling software and utilizes it to efficiently design facilities.
    • Develops, reads, and interprets schematic and construction plans.
    • Manages the production of drawings in AutoCAD and or MicroStation for DOT and local agency projects.
    • Performs design quantity computations and checks for developing opinions of probable construction cost.
    • Understands and works with surveying data provided from survey department.
    • Applies a variety of specification regulations, policies and standards to assure compliance with various Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
    • Works with clients to pursue project funding through available funding agencies while following funding agency practices and policies.
Qualifications for this role:
    • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
    • 5+ years of related experience
    • In-depth knowledge of Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) hydraulic analysis, planning, and design practices is also an important qualification
    • Experience with HEC-RAS, HY-8, EPA SWMM, XPSWMM, HEC-HMS or TR-20, and WaterGEMS is helpful
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and specifications is needed
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to work well individually or as part of a team
