Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Benefits Representative in Kalamazoo, MI.  This role will require 2-5 years of experience in accounting or benefits administration.  This is a 6+ month contract opportunity and the manager is looking to review resumes immediately.  Please submit all qualified resumes to [Click Here to Email Your Resumé].

The Benefits Representative plans and communicates benefits offerings for the firm. Negotiates benefits terms and renewals with vendors/brokers. Manages benefits administration for all offices. Maintains day-to-day relationship with employees, brokers, and vendors, and employees. Resolves disputes between employee and vendor. Conducts open enrollments, manages ERISA and COBRA compliance, and oversees health and welfare plan administration, including disability, HCRA, DCRA, life, medical, dental, 401(k) program, employee exit program, transportation programs, and time off management.

This person will report into the Health and Welfare team under total rewards. They will be responsible for accurate and timely invoice payments, health and welfare reporting, audits and compliance.

The  Benefits Representative will have the following responsibilities: 
  • Legislative and Compliance administration – maintain compliance as assigned, keep informed on updated regulations and recommend processes for compliance. This includes but is not limited to ACA measurement period tracking, Value of Healthcare reporting on W-2s, MEC reporting to the IRS and employees, Medicare Part D reporting to CMS, Summary Annual Report creation, Non-discrimination testing for all required plans, HIPAA disclosure log and business associate agreement management. 
  • Responsible for all assigned tasks for acquisition projects through due diligence and complete integration. 
  • Keeping the Benefit Shared Services and Payroll Shared Services teams informed to insure proper service delivery. 
  • As this role manages administrative needs for all health, welfare and wellbeing plans, coordinating with all benefit team members to complete tasks effectively. 
  • Tracking costs, utilization and engagement reporting for Director. 
  • Processing all vendor invoices and accounting needs for intercompany billing. 
  • Supporting the Wellbeing Plan Administrator with wellbeing reporting needs as they arise. Directing the flu shot and biometric screening process annually. 
  • Additional administrative needs as they arise. 

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Advanced Excel skills including formulas (Vlookup, Subtotals, Pivot Tables)
  • Detail orientation
  • Problem solving in relation to typically in regards to systems, reports and audits
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
