Job Description

job summary:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work education and food service departments to comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including monthly reimbursement submissions, invoice processing, and applications processing
  • Accurately track, report, and analyze financial data related to nutrition program and overall grant funding
  • Support the Controller and Director of Finance with month end close activities, including posting journal entries, reconciling grants and spend, reconciling balance sheet accounts and reporting on/analyzing trends as needed.
  • Develop tools to help schools manage their nutrition programs as efficiently as possible through a combination of revenue maximization and expense minimization.
  • Improve and/or create technology tools & processes to increase team effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested by the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance, Financial Analysts, Principals, and other Home Office Directors.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Excellent financial analytical skills and knowledge of accounting; solid understanding of the general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices and receivables
  • Strong understanding of and experience with budgeting and financial reporting
  • Flexibility to learn and leverage new technology and applications
  • Exceptional time management and quality of work, organizational skills, and ability to work independently - completing tasks on time and accurately
  • High accountability, demonstrates appropriate follow-up and sense of urgency, alerting supervisors to errors and issues in a timely manner
  • Works well with others, maintains positive relationships and a professional and respectful attitude
  • Extremely detail oriented and dedicated to getting the job done accurately
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of information, ensuring sensitive information is not discussed outside of the Financial Team


MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:


  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Background in financial analysis and accounting, through coursework and/or work experience



  • Track record of identifying and implementing steps to automate tasks and increase efficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
