Construction Superintendent
Superintendent to coordinate field operations and oversee workers at our numerous construction sites in Maui, Hawaii. The Superintendent will be the key person in charge of overseeing the completion of the project with a keen awareness of Quality, Safety & Schedule. The Superintendent shall have strong leadership skills, with the ability to direct the work of others and make quick informed decisions. The Superintendent shall be a well-organized, team-oriented individual, capable of communicating effectively with all team members including field staff, subcontractors, project managers, office staff, and clients. The Superintendent ensures all project expenses are properly accounted for and labor hours appropriately documented.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly safety meetings, while overseeing and ensuring all safety rules are being followed at all sites at all times.
- Correct any unsafe acts.
- Update the job log daily, making note of deliveries, trades on site, employees onsite, and documenting work complete.
- Monitor the attendance of crew and advise on appropriate cost code/labor hour allocation.
- Update 3-week Lookaheads at the end of each week.
- Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
- Ability to properly plan ahead each week, avoiding last-minute trips for materials and increasing efficiency.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities to the crew and contractors.
- Holds trades and employees accountable, upholding the highest quality of work.
- Mentor, manage, and train employees in accordance with CDG operating practices.
- Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Oversee all trade quality control.
- Schedule and coordinate with County and Third-Party Inspectors.
- Ensures projects are completed on schedule.
- Work with PE/PM on developing RFIs and suggested solutions.
- Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a construction Superintendent.
- Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance and use, and HIOSH guidelines.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, interpret code, and convey this information to others.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Aptitude in math and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Good physical condition and stamina—able to lift at least 50 lbs., climb ladders, work outdoors, and stand/walk for long periods of time.
