The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for direct patient care and education. The Clinical Coordinator must be able to make clinical decisions, assist with staff scheduling, monitor and maintain quality. He/She is cross-trained in other areas of the office. He/She reports to the office manager

The Clinical Coordinator will take the patient to the exam room and take the vital signs, weight, and history and entering this information into the patient EMR while maintaining the patient's privacy according to HIPAA.  She will be responsible for injections, setting up surgical trays, cleaning surgical instruments and sterilizations.  The Clinical Coordinator will maintain cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms.  The Clinical Coordinator will call patients at the physician's request regarding any abnormal lab reports or actions to be taken due to the lab reports.  The Clinical Coordinator will return patient phone calls and call in prescriptions at physician's orders.  The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for nursing procedures such as EKG, oximetry, spirometry,  and waived lab testing.  Clinical competency completed on an annual basis for staff and Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all medical equipment.  He/she will triage patients according to severity of need.  Duties also include pre-certification of special procedures with insurance companies as well as prior authorizations for medications for the primary care patient.  Must understand process flows and software technology required to support physician office environment services, as appropriate.

The Clinical Coordinator must represent the practice in a professional manner at all times. Their personal appearance should also be maintained according to the standards of the practice.

The Clinical Coordinator interacts with Registration Staff for efficient patient, nurse, and physician scheduling.  The Clinical Coordinator will insure that all clinical staff maintain certifications and are properly trained for the positions they occupy. 

The Clinical Coordinator serves as a liaison between the physician and office manager and clinical staff.

The ICC locations are extended hours and weekends as needed.

 

Education/Experience:

The position of Clinical Coordinator will require a minimum of two year technical degree in a medical specialty and at least 3 years experience in a medical office
