JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT PRESCHOOL TEACHER
Basic Function: The Assistant Preschool Teacher reports to the Lead Preschool Teacher and shall provide direct care and supervision to children in the center.
Experience: The Assistant Teacher shall have at least 6 months of experience in a childcare center or comparable group for children under the age of 5.
General Description: The Assistant Teacher shall provide direct care and supervision to children in the center.

Duties:
- Perform classroom routines.
- Be responsible for the safety and physical well-being of all children.
- Ensure that children are taken to interesting parts of the environment or have interesting things brought to them.
- Ensure that personal contact between the caregiver and child is always followed.
- Ensure that food preparation, feeding, and toilet areas are cleaned after each use.
- Follow a regular schedule for cleaning walls, floors and rugs, tables, and have a schedule posted.
- Follow a regular schedule for cleaning bedding.
- Keep all children’s records.
- Ensure needs and services forms are in each child’s form.
- Keep all childcare teachers' records.
- Perform daily routine health checks when children arrive in the center.
- Other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The Assistant Teacher shall have an Assistant Teacher Permit or Associate's Degree.
Other Considerations:
- The Assistant Teacher must be able to perform light physical work and have the ability to lift and carry children weighing 14 to 30 pounds. The Assistant Teacher will be required to bend, crouch, lift, kneel, and perform other light physical activities as they address the needs of the students (e.g., diaper changing, toileting, cleaning, etc.). The person in this position is responsible for maintaining performance under pressure and handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization. Working conditions are free from unpleasant environmental conditions.

Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly
