853000 Patient Accounting
Responsible for appropriate and accurate billing following hospital and regulatory guidelines. Reviews daily bills using the 837 billing systems for electronic billing ensuring for accurate demographic information and update appropriately. Stays informed of industry standards in regards to payor specific guidelines and contract expectations on billing and collection practices. Utilizes the hospital electronic bill scrubber and related systems provided to maintain the integrity of the billing and accounts receivable system. Processes all clerical duties to support the overall productivity and success of the business office. This position requires flexibility of hours.
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Formal Medical Billing education/training preferred.
Medical Electronic Insurance Billing experience requires minimum 2 years of electronic 837 billing experience as a hospital bill scrubber. Prior commercial/government/patient billing experience preferably in a hospital setting and knowledgeable of the regulations required for each. Secondary insurance billing experience preferred.
Medical Electronic Insurance Billing certification from a medical billing organization preferred.
Organizational and keyboarding skills.
Insurance Biller: Responsible for the accurate and timely billing of commercial insurance claims.
Government programs biller/collector: Responsible for the accurate and timely billing and collections from government agencies.
Self pay biller: Responsible to handle all requests for itemized bills, bankruptcies, subpoena notices and process patient data mailers.
