Senior Property Accountant
Andrews & Cole is currently partnering with a growing commercial real estate company in Marina Del Rey that is looking for a full-time, direct-hire Senior Property Accountant. The role will be hybrid (2 days remote, 3 days in-office) and will report to the Assistant Controller.
The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of a portfolio of commercial properties with retail tenants. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of commercial property accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have recent commercial real estate accounting experience and a proven track record of managing complex financial transactions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of commercial properties.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Conduct CAM reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Provide financial analysis and support for property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience, with a focus on commercial properties.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi or MRI).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
