Culture and Engagement Advisor

As a member of the Culture and Engagement (C&E) team, the Culture and Engagement Advisor implements culture related activities with the intent of enhancing the talent bench of leaders and managers through organizational development efforts.  Actively delivers outstanding customer service and serves as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.  The Culture and Engagement team drives initiatives that help build the culture of the organization.  

Our ideal candidate will have strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, a passion for improving individual and organizational performance, and experience in leading initiatives in the areas of talent management, organizational development or other related HR areas. 

  • Support GDIT succession management efforts, in addition to other initiatives including and not limited to coaching, employee engagement, team effectiveness, and culture building
  • Develop an approach, timeline and stakeholder map for an enterprise-wide succession management effort
  • Support a communications and training plan to educate GDIT HRBPs and leaders on succession management objectives, criteria, competencies and the tool
  • Provide consultative guidance to leaders
  • Consult with Human Resources and internal stakeholders to ensure current and future needs of the organization are met; act as a subject matter expert by providing and supporting continuous improvement and development initiatives
  • Assist organization’s leaders in identifying critical performance areas or skills needing development
  • Partner with the Talent Development team to strategize on approach for training and development content to help build employees’ competencies
  • Develop and facilitate group discussions such as team effectiveness sessions, focus groups, leadership and career development programs, training, etc., with the goal of understanding challenges, analyzing issues, resolving conflicts, exploring solutions and making decisions.
  • Partner with talent management and organizational development vendors and manage vendor relationships
  • Infuse best practices and research to further enhance the succession planning efforts
  • Contribute as needed to the Culture and Engagement team on other activities including team alignment sessions, diversity and inclusion efforts, corporate giving events
  • Qualifications


    •      Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Resources, or related field and at least 10 years of relevant progressive professional experience; of which you will have 4-6 years’ experience in large scale environments in organizational development or talent management

  •   Experience in at least two of the following areas:

    o  coaching and delivering assessment feedback

    o  executing succession planning or high potential identification

    o  change management initiatives

    o  designing leadership development experiences

    o  employee engagement initiatives

  • Ability to master technology tools to implement processes (such as Workday, Excel pivot tables, PowerPoint)
  • •      Excellent verbal and written communication

    •      Developing facilitation skills and potential for coaching skills

    •      Highly collaborative work style and open to new ideas

    •      Project management and process improvement skills

    •      Advanced analytical skills and critical thinking

    •      Creative

    •      High degree of self-awareness

    •      Motivated to learn and seek opportunities to stretch

  • Experience in presenting ideas, approaches and processes
  • Detail-oriented, excellent planning skills
  • Superior organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adept at establishing partnerships and building relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills: listening, challenging, straightforwardness, rapport, trust, warmth, compassion, humility
  • Business acumen
  • Sense of urgency and initiative
  • Preferred:

    •      Certified in at least one recognized assessment tool such as Myers-Briggs, DiSC, or another leadership/team assessment

    •      Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field

    •      Understanding of enterprise software, particularly HRIS and other Talent Management technologies (e.g., succession planning, recruiting, performance management, learning management)
