Your Role:

As a key team member of the Global Business Franchise Oncology, the Director of Strategy & New Product Planning is accountable to:

  • Actively contribute to and drive development of yearly Strategy Development cycle and long-range forecasting
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders on integrating asset-level and tumor-focused strategies into portfolio level Oncology strategy
  • Contribute to strategic narrative development and annual Strategy Book
  • Coordinate and drive strategy workshops and working sessions with core team, leadership and broader cross-functional team to ensure organizational alignment on Oncology franchise strategy
  • Prepare presentations and materials as needed to communicate Oncology franchise strategy across organization
  • Establish and maintain a project plan (with meaningful timelines and check points, logical links between activities, internal/external resources, and assumptions) that depicts the activities required over the course of the Strategy Development cycle with the input from the respective line functions.
  • Operationalize Tumor Strategy Team concept and work with commercial leadership on driving commercial strategic focus of the teams
  • Provide global cross-functional early stage program team(s) with commercial expertise and support team members in strategically positioning asset(s) for governance and eventual commercial success
  • Contribute to project plan for respective program and support the Cross-functional Leads to get the respective plans (timelines, costs, internal resources, deliverables, milestones) approved by the appropriate governance bodies and ensure its regular update with new information from the various functions contributing to the project delivery
  • Coordinate, track and forecast tasks, budget (in collaboration with project controlling) and project timelines and provide team with early warnings on possible variances
  • Ensure proper identification and management of project risks and their report to the respective governance body; work with teams to develop mitigation plans  
  • Organize efficient information flow within the core team, which can be spread across different functional sub-teams
  • Ensure alignment across functional initiatives and within functional Sub-teams/areas
  • Manage handoffs and transition of Asset Plan Elements with Regions and Countries when needed
  • Work with asset/brand teams on developing long-range forecasts for strategic planning
  • Work with program team to develop resourcing plans and tradeoffs for particular program(s)
  • Managing and influencing in a cross-functional matrix organization without direct reporting lines

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in a scientific discipline and/or in economics with significant previous experience in the life sciences/pharmaceutical industry
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ideally 5 years of relevant experience in global project management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry & in oncology, equivalent relevant education or proven direct related experience.
  • Previous experience in strategy/management consulting or project management certified by a recognized project management organization (e.g. PMI, IPMA)
  • Previous working experience in cross-functional and international teams, ideally in Launch/Drug Development teams
  • Cross-functional knowledge of Drug Development Process and Launch success factors a definite plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Scientific Degree Preferred (e.g. M.S., Ph.D.)
  • Knowledge of and /or experience in project management, spreadsheet and database management software is desirable
  • Excellent project management & organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a multi-cultural environment

ADA REQUIREMENTS

  • Normal and routine office duties
