If you want to work for a successful Agriculture company, Tyler Houk (Vice President) with Robert Half has an opportunity for a Controller to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Visalia, California region. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Your responsibilities


- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible


- Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required


- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash


- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies


- Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis


- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll


- Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties


- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques


- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly


- Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction


- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement


- Strong communication and social skills


- Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills


- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field


- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations


- CPA/MBA preferred


- Proven knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)


- Strong familiarity with financial statement preparation


- Knowledge of month end closings


- Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger


- Well-founded grasp of budget forecasting


- Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)


- Foundational knowledge in cost accounting


- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity


- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required


- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines


- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued


- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred


- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
