Responsibilities

  • This position will be at the frontier of the rapidly growing sports betting and igaming industry, and the successful candidate will be responsible for (and must have demonstrated success in prior roles) achieving mission critical objectives by developing and executing upon sound government and industry affairs strategies, providing thought leadership to inform public policy and reshaping outdated or uninformed public perceptions.
  • Promote the public presence and credibility of Company with government and industry stakeholders and influencers and ensure the company speaks with one voice on key issues.
  • Think several steps ahead while navigating a complex and dynamic ecosystem of direct and tangential industry stakeholders, with demonstrated success in building coalitions where appropriate to advance common objectives.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of Company 's current and potential future business and effectively horizon scan to identify and assess key legislative and policy opportunities and risks; draw upon experiences of mature sports betting and igaming markets outside of the United States to inform best practices.
  • Develop strategies that integrate public policy with business strategy to best position Company and lead cross-functional teams to effectively execute such strategies.
  • Engage proactively and reactively with government officials at the local, state and federal levels and deploy strong advocacy skills to effect change.
  • Oversee and effectively manage lobbyists and consultants.
  • Exhibit the utmost integrity and sense of ethical duty while ensuring all activities are fully compliant with applicable law.
  • Prepare a department budget and efficiently deploy resources to optimize outcomes for Company.
  • Educate employees regarding Company 's political action and engagement in governmental processes.
  • Collaborate, and effectively coordinate, with government and industry affairs teams of Company 's shareholders.
  • Effectively operate in ambiguous environments while rapidly adapting to evolving information and issues and demonstrating impeccable attention to detail.
  • Instinctively and consistently create stretch goals and meet them.
  • Exhibit utmost professionalism in all settings; capable of deploying strong advocacy skills in a tactful and effective manner while maintaining complete credibility with all stakeholders.
  • Consistently produce excellent original work product.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, internal clients, and external business partners.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and demonstrate the utmost integrity in all settings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer.

Education

  • Bachelor 's degree

Qualifications

  • At least fifteen (15) years of progressive responsibility in U.S. government and industry affairs with demonstrated success in fulfilling the duties, responsibilities and attributes described above in previous roles. Less experience will be considered for candidates with advanced degrees (one year less experience per year of study).
  • Established network of key external policymakers and influencers to amplify Company 's advocacy efforts.
  • Expert familiarity with the federal and state legislative and regulatory process and influencing public policy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with key individuals and to build, maintain and leverage a broad network of contacts.
  • Keen sense of interpersonal dynamics and ability to 'read the room ' and adjust when appropriate.
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver with demonstrated ability to conceive and execute on key projects.
  • Superior leadership skills, with the ability to drive initiatives across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated work ethic, sound judgment, trustworthiness, initiative, and an ability to manage multiple issues with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Excellent research and writing skills; ability to prepare clear, concise and complete documents, reports, correspondence and other communications materials on complex issues; ability to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms; ability to make effective public presentations.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Experience in the gaming industry or a highly regulated or consumer-centric industry where an equivalent skillset is required.
  • Experience with state government affairs in multiple states, especially those with existing or emerging sports betting or igaming laws.

Additional Requirements

  • Gaming license registration as required by applicable jurisdictions.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
