Regulatory Policy Manager

Derived Salary: $88K - $140K/Year

Overview:


Our client is a development, investment and operating firm focused on power generation, energy infrastructure, and related investments. Employee-owned, with offices in four states. Since the inception, they have developed, constructed, managed and acquired more than 41,000 MW of competitive power generation and close to 600 miles of transmission infrastructure, for which they have raised over $40 billion in debt and equity financing. As the Regulatory Policy Manager, you will be leading the efforts in all policy related matters in the US wholesale electricity market.


Role:



  1. Enhance the competitive, strategic, and other interests of the company through the development, analysis, and advocacy of positions on federal, regional and state regulatory affairs.

  2. Develop Company positions and strategy on federal, regional and state regulatory policies, addressing wholesale power supply and delivery, wholesale markets, and system reliability.

  3. Lead and coordinate activity on policies and regulations relating to wholesale electricity markets affecting the United States. Specific responsibilities will include (among others) advocacy for competitive and transparent wholesale energy markets, focusing on key market mechanisms; i.e. Capacity Markets, Energy Markets, Balancing and Ancillary markets.

  4. Effectively represent and advocate the company positions and interests before the various agencies, in written filings and in other formal and informal communications.

  5. Work with other company employees related to commercial operations and regulatory policy to effectively establish and advocate for company positions as needed.


Qualifications:



  1. College degree in related field, JD preferred but not required.

  2. Minimum of five years of related professional experience.

  3. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  4. Power industry and FERC knowledge and experience.

  5. Self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimal supervision.

  6. Exceptional project and process management skills.

  7. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues in preparing briefs and other documents.
