CB Est Salary: $110K - $110K/Year
Baillie Lumber is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer candidate to join our team headquartered in Hamburg, NY, with a travel and/or remote component. This role is responsible for maintaining smooth operation of the organizations voice, video and data network that supports our plants and remote locations. Also responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting all areas of the Network infrastructure throughout plant operations including systems administration, network security, data communications, hosted cloud environments, Internet circuits, training and process improvement at our plants and remote locations. States this role will service include New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Senior Network Engineer Responsibilities
  • Oversee Local Area Network and Wide Area Network services that support our plants and remote locations. Including administration of network switches, routers, some servers, Wifi Access Points, Camera/NVR solutions, Firewalls and VPN solutions.
  • Work with network and server management on large projects that reach into the plant operations.
  • Ensure overall system security and users understand responsibilities and procedures
  • Assist and maintain as needed the corporate Business Continuity Policies
  • Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning; troubleshoot network problems and escalate problems to vendors.
  • Secure network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Responsible for security of Baillie network perimeter through the use of industry best practices
  • Maintain and secure remote office and cloud hosted resources through current industry best practices
  • Working understanding of practical applications in each area of the company. For example Sales, Yards, Accounting, Plant operations.
  • Develop technical procedures and documentation
  • Manage relationships with Yard Management, Vendors and Service Providers
  • Identify and evaluate new products and relate these to business solutions as needed
  • Conduct analysis and consultation for Yard Management of any tech related environment as needed
Senior Network Engineer Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Information Technology (or equivalent experience)
  • 10 15 years hands on technical support positions, with 5-8 years working in a Network Administration and Design role.
  • Experience leading large projects and mentoring junior level network support staff
  • Experience managing priorities and exercising initiative when required
  • Experience with physical cabling, punch downs, terminating connections, and overall cable management
  • Knowledge of UPS and line conditioner products
  • Experience with MS Windows Active Directory and Linux Enterprise
  • Experience in common IS technologies -- such as networking/subnetting, DNS, anti-virus, anti-spam, SMTP, asset management, VOIP telephony, and VPNs.
  • Basic Network security experience to include firewalls and virus protection software
  • Effective written and oral communications, including the ability to explain technical concepts and system operations in a manner understood by business users
  • Experience racking and stacking equipment in data center environment
  • Physical requirements include the ability to move or lift equipment such as PCs, printers, and boxes of paper
  • Includes high percentage of travel to plants in remote locations
  • Up to 25% travel domestically

  • Experience with Cisco Meraki
  • Experience with Exacqvision Camera Solutions
  • Experience supporting OT/ICS Networks
  • Manage Windows Servers, Active Directory Group Policy, and network applications that include VMware, MS Exchange, Web hosting, Fax, Terminal Server, Citrix, MS Exchange and AS/400 connectivity
